Cannon Rogers

Bringing his own brand of witty, American literature obsessed cultural observations to Southern rock, Cannon Rogers carves out a space uniquely his own in the vibrant music scene of Athens, GA. Having spent half a decade on the road as a pedal steel & guitar player for acts like Susto, Cracker and Waylon Wyatt, Rogers first collection of songs, Hydroponic Southern Gothic, explores the post-modern South through a lens as much shaped by Lucinda Williams as Flannery O’Connor. Gritty guitars soar over banjos, organs and contemplative lyrics about heroes both musical and cultural, the state of America as it exists today, and what art can do in the face of this modern world. Raised in Northwest Georgia, Rogers draws upon a tradition of scrappy artists of the Peach State from Rev. Howard Finster to Southern rockers Drivin N Cryin to build an aesthetic world tinged with nostalgia while decisively driving forward.
